due for real, mics are not expensive. try a pawn shop if you dont like the prices of new ones. I know guitarcenter.com has them starting at around $90. A studio condenser mic needs phantom power though, so you'll need to either get a phantom power box or a mixer with phantom. The boxes start at aorund $20 and the mixers w/ p-power start at around $60. Hope I was helpful.

lets be serious if you want decent quality you're gonna need a condenser mic and pre-amp spending between $200 - $400 is a good idea if you want quality products. I know it's a little expensive, but it's worth it in the end.

oh yea and a compressor to clean up the signal before it gets to your recorder...this can let you use a less expensive mic and mixer w/o it being as noticeable. I use an Alesis 3630, they're like $100
