There is music everywhere music and tone the desktop is a stage from where reality is composed. There is a symphony in the pen and its scratches on the page the ink glides on wings like mine the desktop is my stage. The orchestra is assembled, the conductor stands prepared reference books are the rhythm section, the pages ruffle and thus create the snare, they are dropped to the side to create a new movement with the bass. The keys before me are the melody The sing, and strum and bow across The minor and major theme The chords do change and the theme seems lost In new and different variation But the typewriter symphony keeps on track And the conductor knows this composition. With complete abandon my fingers leap Their knowledge of this feeling deep They keep the time And direct the round To silence in the balconies. The room is quiet And the audience leans in Captivating by these tones For by and large New knowledge comes to the watchful tomes In the gallery Protected by the cup of pens to the lee of a storm of coffee The feeling of staccato expressions Are braced by the legato lamentations Of a notebook?s slowly turning leaves. The symphony on the desktop Reaches its finale The keys are stamping hard, a crescendo for to bring The conductor does hunch and sweat, his passion brimming up Power surges from the gallery Eager for the culmination Of this opus or recitation. The final key is struck And silently the galleries explode For through the variating and explaining They see the theme was known. Applause is heard through the ticking of the fan, The conductor sits back to listen His mind is free and then is clear This symphony was needed. His work is done and he leaves the stage His eyes perceive a haze For through the instruments at his disposal He created something from the offal. The encore comes With the printer?s hum And the coffee pot?s thrum His senses they are a-burning His symphony performed Now the gallery applauds his encores He has completed the desktop symphony. There is music on the desktop And there is passion in the notes There is an orchestra in the materiel And desire in the reference pages A passionate rondo for to make When a writer sits to conduct At his desktop A symphony he may make. |
