when i plug it into my computer it doesn't seem to be able to record and it just has a constant static sound..i have to use an adapter for it...any ideas?

Elaborate more. What's your setup?

For example, mine is:

Rode NT1A Mic - XLR cable - Soundcraft Compact 4 Mixer - Guitar Cable - Audiophile 192 Soundcard, which is in my computer.

shure pv58 mic, NVIDIA(r) nforce (TM) Audio

thats all i can find out sorry, it's not major cuz i have another mic that works alright but the new one is way better :S
