since it connects thru usb the pre-amp is software, not hardware. i used to use the mic all the time when i first bought it, and it recorded fine, great mic for the price. however, i haven't used it in about a year and plugged it in recently to record and post sum audios up here, but for some the reason the record signal is horrible! it sounds distorted and sounds faster than the beat. now, i checked the bpm of the input signal on the mic, its ok. there are no extra effects on the input signal, so scratch that. don't know what else to do. also, when i activate the software preamp for the mic, my record signal has a large amount of latency. it never gave any of these problems before, but in the mean time i will update my drivers (old pc), and beef up my ram. until then, can any of you give me some ideas on how to get the mic working properly. id prefer someone who uses the same mic. thanx.

| I've got a Shure SM58, and that's all I've used other than a couple kereokee mics before lol. Maybe try pluggin it into a different usb port, cause I know my mic sounds all funky unless it's in a certain spot. KOS

Hey, You have latency due to your hardware buffer most of the time. You want it set low for recording, somewhere around 256 of your memory, so there will be less lag and a clean clear signal. (usually having not to many effects active in your entire session) You want it set high (using more memory/processing) when you get to mixing and editing usually. This way your system can handle more at once. Set up this way, as far as recording goes, it will give you drifting audio and possibly hearing it cut out sometimes. Look somewhere in your software where you can adjust your buffer size..your mic is possibly just fine. I Hope that may help.. |
