Default Pro tools obsolete?

Is there really a need for pro tools anymore when sonar, and logic have done so well?

pro tools is still the standard for convenience. You record something in pro tools on your home studio, and mastering in a pro studio is no prob. Thats the only 'need' for it. But any quality multi-track program makes the same calibur production quality at a fraction the price. To answer your Q I'd say, for the home studio user with no plans of regularly takin project files to other studios, no. To somebody frequemtly workin with a larger pro studio for mixing and mastering, yes, having pro tools will save time and headache.

you just gotta remember pro tools isn't just a DAW, it's a complete software/hardware set up...so i'm not sure if you talkin about just the software or settin up an entire studio around it...

if you trnya set up pro tools for real, you better come out the pocket with some major cash...granted, if you get the whole set up, you gonna have a state of the art professional lab to work in, but it's gonna cost bookoo bucks namean...

if you just talkin the software, get logic if you got a mac...if not, i'd go with cubase...maybe acid pro...
