Some ideas for the site - B-Boys.com - Hip-Hop Rap Forums

One thing i find myself wishing is that there was more to acheive on the site. Perhaps if you had like annual awards for people whove really been working on thier writing and contributing to the sites content.

Punch of The Year

the moderators can hand pick the top 5 or so punches of the year that just completely dropped your jaw down to ya keyboard. Than people on site can see and vote for thier favorites in a poll and the winner could win 100$ or a gift card to something hiphop related like karma loop and braggin rights for a year.

Battle of The Year

Same concept as above, pick 5 or so battles of the year that were just absolutely crazy, close, back and forth battles that went bar for bar, than the winners of the match could have a rematch and the winner gets a 100 $

Most Improved Tect-cee

Moderators can decide here or it can put up to vote on whos the most improved textcee by showing thier first battle post to thier most recent one and the winner gets a 100 bucks

just some suggestions, if people have something to reach for than theyd step theyre game up to get there, which in the end would step up the site content which would lead to increased site traffic, at least thats what im thinking. What you guys think?

Everyone sent in their votes, I tallied them and then we got the results.

The main problem with this site is the two owners are AWOL. I've been wanting to add various things, one of them being awards with trophies that you can see under your name, but they're just not around.

Being able to do end of year awards is easy enough to do though, so bump this thread then and we'll get some going.

We could even do monthly awards, but honestly, I'm not sure if the site is active enough for monthly awards. Maybe bi-monthly.

i was gonna edit this earlier but ive just gotten some free time:

Vid Battles

Two people go head to head via webcam or by sending there vids in. two week deadlines, going off what kempo said people do have lives outside b-boys but by giving them some time before the battle would be incentive to get it done.
Also A mod could ref/Host during a live battle to keep track of time and such, much like grindtime. Could create a youtube channel specifically for b-boys battles with vids, anybody looking for rap battles would see it and than add to site traffic.

Increase Variety Of Battles

not everyone can think of a sick ass punchline but got a ridiculous flow, its just wont mean much on the battle scene. I like the topicals section but i dont see any topical battles, give two people a topic they have to go off on and see who does it better (ex. tell a story). Keystyle battles should def make a comeback where people only have 10 mintues to drop a verse and can be judged on content. As far as video variety, on youtube i saw this kid name Ramzo who created an ill ass beat and the called somebody out to write something for it , when the person got wind he dropped his and called one of his friends out, and thats how this long vid cypher began which i thought was awesome, if you wanna get an idea of what i mean ,type ramzo cypher in youtube and youll see plenty of grindtime dudes droppin 16s.

Acheivements, Titles, Stylized trophies

I saw the link to the mid season achievements kempo dropped and thought that was awesome, definitely ill. Under join date and posts number you could put peoples acheivements, win/loss record, and small stylized trophies like if someone had punch of the year he'd have a golden glove. Different titles like topical champ, flow champ, vid champ, text champ with both a light and a heavy too which you'd need a certain amount of posts and battles to qualify for a certain weightclass.

Qualification/Invite only Events

Have big events where you must qualify to get in for purses and title fights, and big tourneys where its invite only basedon moderator decisions.

SocialNetworking

if this site was open to people who werent just into texting it would def be bumping, where people could enjoy the battles but also just talk about other hiphop related stuff, the site could have a facebook-esqu style setup with pics and such.

@Kempo i have no experience moderating at all lol, i wouldnt mind doing it but before i give you a definitive answer i should solidify my ideas and get them down pat so thats its not half assed and doesnt crash and burn.

I def agree with all of the above recommendations. They're really good ideas...I would also suggest getting into the audio/video battle scene and using YouTube as a channel to facilitate that...in other words, making a "B-Boys" Youtube account and posting up battles over there....this way, participants on this site get more exposure and who knows? they may even get picked up by a label if they truly demonstrate exceptional abilities. That kinda stuff has been happening a lot lately...so never say never

The main problem with audio battles, especially on text based sites, is, firstly, finding enough battlers to do it, and secondly, getting them to show up. There's a big difference between writing for a battle and having to record for one. With video battles I can imagine both of those points being amplified to an even greater extent.

If people want to have audio or video battles then they can feel free to, and if it gets to the point where there are enough active audio/video battlers to run a tournament, then definitely, one could be ran.

I can see how the video battle would be easier to achieve than an audio battle.
Cause all your doing is recording the vid, theres no mastering/mixing. but i dont see the appeal of 2 diss videos to be honest.

webcam battles would be easily achieveable via tinychat or a similar site. but that would also require one host (who could block webcam if people wanted to go over their time) & a voting panel of atleast 5 all being online to do this shit at the same time.

the awards thing is def. a good idea even if it just gives people an incentive to try that little bit harder for a little recognition.

I think having a post count per month to enter cash prize tournaments is a must to drive up some activity. Like, you must have 50 posts for 6 consecutive months to qualify for entry. this place filled with familiar faces when the cash out then it dies down again.
